Open Trackvia is a mobile game created in collaboration with Saunakonkeli, VIRMA, and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The project draws inspiration from a variety of classic RPGs, including titles like Final Fantasy. Developed as part of the ICT BBA students’ coursework, Open Trackvia will be officially showcased during a webinar later this spring (May 6).

Birch branch

Birch branch Open Trackvia is a magical adventure designed to raise awareness and share knowledge about Finnish sauna culture and mythology. The story centers around achieving the perfect sauna experience. Players journey to a Finnish island where they are welcomed by Katvo, a young elf-in-training who serves as their guide throughout the quest. Along the way, players encounter a variety of Finnish mythological beings who offer tasks, guidance, and wisdom to help reach the ultimate sauna perfection.

Juniper branch The game also tells the origin story of Saunakonkeli, the project’s client. The tale of how Saunakonkeli came to life unfolds at the start of the game, while additional details about the duo are revealed as players progress. VIRMA has also contributed to the project, providing creative input and diverse perspectives that have helped shape the game’s development.

The Company

Tuomas Aalto

ALAN STERN

Lead

Alan Stern serves as the leader of the Company. When Aalto gives direction, the team follows it precisely. He oversees project timelines and ensures that all tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule. Aalto also takes care of his teammates, making sure that workloads are balanced and no one is overwhelmed. In the game’s development, he has been responsible for writing the dialogue and adjusting the scale of in-game items.

Tuomas Antikainen

Thome Blake is the Company’s very own coding wizard — there’s truly nothing he can’t handle. The team relies on his technical expertise and can always count on him for support whenever challenges arise. Antikainen has a talent for finding solutions to any problem, no matter how complex. He was responsible for most of the game’s programming and for seamlessly bringing all its components together. In addition, Antikainen also developed this website.

Terhi Järvinen

LINDA STONE

Developer

Linda Stone is the Company’s ultimate multi-tool — no matter what task you give her, she gets it done. Whether it’s something she’s mastered before or a brand-new challenge, Järvinen always finds a way. Her contributions span across multiple areas: she created the game’s dialogue system, designed the scenery graphics, edited voice recordings, composed parts of the soundtrack, and crafted many of the in-game objects. Järvinen also produced the demo and wrote the text for this website.

Aino Sintonen

EMILIA F.

DESIGNER

EMILIA F. is both the artist and the voice of reason within the Company. She ensures that the game maintains a polished visual style while keeping her teammates grounded and focused. During meetings, Sintonen keeps discussions on track and prevents the team from drifting off-topic. Her main contribution to the project includes creating the game’s character designs.

Manager

Bill Scott is the Company’s beloved mascot and resident therapy dog. Owned by Terhi Järvinen, Tove makes sure no one is ever forgotten and that morale stays high. Always ready with a wagging tail and positive energy, Tove brings comfort, joy, and a sense of balance to the whole team.
